How does it look like? Find The Pair
Thank you so much for the great Joomla puzzles! We have a birthday bash every year for a forum I help moderate. During the bash, we have different contests and this year, I am running a puzzle contest. I am using your jigsaw, word search, and sliding picture puzzle and everyone is liking them a lot!
I installed your Find the Pair puzzle today but am having problems getting it to work. I get it to load but the pictures don’t show up. In the initial load where it normally gives a quick preview of the pictures, all I see are ?. Then, when I click on a tile, it is blank. This is using your stock photos that are installed with the module. Any suggestions on how to get it to work? It would be a fun one to add.
Here is how I am using your puzzles…For the jigsaw, I just a photo that has been posted on our forum. When the person completes the puzzle, they have to go to the forum and find the picture and then come back to the page where there is a form. On it, they have to enter the username of the person who took the picture as proof of completion. The same thing applies with sliding picture puzzle. It would be nice to have an option to not have the gallery button so that folks can not cheat!
For the word search puzzle, I have edited your javascript code a little to put in my own custom message when the congratulations message pops up. In this box, I give a completion code that they then have to enter into the form to prove they completed the puzzle! You might consider adding a box on the back-end for folks to put in their own custom message then your puzzles could be used more easily in contests for the folks who don’t know how to edit the code.
Anyway, thanks for some great modules! If you ever consider adding some of these features and want to charge a fee for a “Pro” version, I would be all in!
Also, if you can give some guidance on the find the pair puzzle, that would be a great addition to our contest!
Hi Curtis,
thank you for your feedback and nice words. Very creative how you use the puzzles on your site.
To your questions/suggestions:
1. Find The Pair puzzle: cant find an error after a fresh reinstall. Do you have a test-page I could look onto to find out what the reason might be?!
I really need some help here.
2. Regarding the onSuccess Message. It’s possible for the html/js based puzzles like sudoku, findthepair and wordsearch. Its harder with the flash based. I’ll have a look on the whole idea for all of them.
3. Hiding the gallery/restart button’s. That is something I implementented for the wordpress and typo3 version of jigsaw and will definitively do that for the joomla versions too. Soon.
So thanks again for your feedback and help.
Tom
On my website I already use “find the pair” puzzles but they are not working ok. Maybe I want to use your puzzles because they are looking very nice and I can insert my pictures and I can increase the tiles. There is only one problem. I have a Joomla! 3.0 website and this extension is 2.5. Du you have plans to make this extension for Joomla 3.0
Regards, Maarten
Hi Maarten,
of course, I am just looking into joomla 3 availability. Stay tuned. I will keep you updated.

Thomas Good day! I installed “MyPuzzle Find the Pair” local. The installation works very well, the module settings are very übersichttlich. Unfortunately, when you enter the puzzle, the images are not displayed! Neither the default path for the Gallery, even in my own path. What could be wrong? There the images are not eingelesen.Ich using Joomla 2.5.9. Maybe you can help me. Incidentally, MyPuzzle Jigsaw and Sliding MyPuzzle I have also tried local – that works!
With best regards from Austria

Hi Kurt,
sounds not good! Can you please help me to figure out what the problem is on your site?
Would be nice to have access to your test-page and check what the component is doing in the background.
So please send me the link to the page causing the plugin not to work.
Thanks, Tom
Hi Tom! I have the puzzle “Find the Pair” local installed! Installation and configuration super! Sorry, but the images are not displayed! Not from the standard folder and not from my folder! What could be wrong? Please help! Also have “Slide Puzzle” and “Jigsaw Puzzle” local tried. Run! Wants me but “Find the Pair” install on my website when it does. Anyway, it is super game!
With best regards from Austria

Hi Kurt,
as described before…just send me a link to a testsite. Then I will check it.
Thanks, Tom

Hi Kurt,
found the mistake (hopefully). Your site is running as an subdirectory and I handled the image source-path not accordingly.
Could you please download the plugin from this site again (version 1.1.0) and reinstall?!
Let me know whether the new version fixes your problem and I will upload the new version to the extention directory.
Many thanks,
Tom
Good work Tom! You can see it works!! Have changed the footer in German, but the link is available on MyPuzzle.org! Now I have to upload my own pictures and then can the fellow fishermen play! ;-) Thanks again for the great service!
Best regards from Kurt Hofer
Perfect…you are welcom. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi
I have installed the module but it will not show the images. I have tried with images in other folders than default but nothing helps.
Any ideas?
Greetings
Tom
Hi Tom,
just uploaded a new version 1.1.0 that fixed an image-path problem. Maybe that helps your too!?
You can download it on this page further up or on the joomla extensions site.
Let me know, whether that works.
Tom
Hi Tom! I’ll call again! It all works now, but a suggestion to you, I still want to do. In the demo, the user can select the number of couples. That would be great in Joomla! Up or down in the middle of a selection dropdown box would be perfect! Tom, as I said just a suggestion. I’m not a programmer, I can not implement it. Maybe you can install the.
With best regards,
Kurt Hofer
Hi Kurt,
I guess you mean a functionality like we do have on our website!? http://mypuzzle.org/find-the-pair
Can imagine to add that in the future. Right now I’m a little short on time…sorry. But anyway a good point and I will add that to my to-do-list.
Thanks,
Tom
I have tried the new version, but the images are still missing…
Regards
Tom Sandfeld
Hi Tom,
really want to find that issue.
Can you send me a link to a test-page where I could check whats going wrong?
Thanks,
Tom
Hi,
Very nice job. Puzzle find the pair works perfectly. Nice that you can use your own picture. Is it also possible to turn off the preview ?
KR
Rudi
Hi Rudi,
to switch off the preview is not possible right now.
Would be an additional option in the future.
Thanks,
Tom
Hallo Tom,
I like the demo of your program Find The Pair. About this program I have a question.
On our website (Non Joomla) with traffic-signs we had earlier a game like Find The Pair, but the kids had to combine the sign with the meaning of that sign. We realized this by giving a suffix to the name of the image like image111a.jpg and image111b.jpg. Is this possible with your programma, in the way you name the images like animals-cat.jpg and animals-cat-2.jpg ?
Kind regards,
Gert
Hi Gert,
thank you for your message. The fixed couple idea has been brought to me before and I like it.
I will check how much effort that would be. Probably the easiest would be to do such a filename-matching.
Maybe with the last character or a suffix. When looking at your example image…To have the images side by side is not a requirement right?
Thanks, Tom
